The Black Hills Pioneer donated 500 to the Spearfish Veterans Monument Committee. The donation was from proceeds from the Pioneer's Salute to Veterans special section. The Pioneer also donated 500 to Spearfish Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts to cover the expense of "Buddy Backpack" that were delivered to the Support Services for Veterans and Families from the Cornerstone Rescue Mission.
